Novellae of the Hatam Sofer to the laws of niddah in the Shulhan Arukh, apparently written by R. Asher Wachderlitz (d. 1827). R. Wachderlitz was a devoted student and disciple of the Hatam Sofer and served as rabbi in Shutmensdorf. He was married to the daughter of the scribe of Presburg, R. Issachar Dov Ber ha-Levi Frank, who set him up in a business with an associate. The business did not do well as the two partners were occupied in the study of Torah full time. On an occasion the Hatam Sofer asked the partners on the success of their business, to which R. Asher responded "I'm ready for the Messiah" while his partner quipped "I'll be ready in six weeks". The partners were quoting the Talmud, which states, that the Messiah will not come before all monies are gone form the pocket. Obviously the partner felt six weeks of money was still available from their business. R. Asher became the rabbi in Shutmensdorf and passed on at a young age.
