||The laws relating to the Western Congregation (St. Albans Place, London), adopted in 1833. This is similar to constitutions that synagogues have today, with the duties of each official, each member of the board, and even regular members clearly stated. Dues are also discussed and there is even an office entitled Gabbai Tzedakah.
It is most interesting to note that procedures for certain annual events, such as Hakkafot on Simchat Torah, are specifically noted and described. In addition, the synagogue kept a registry of births, marriages, and deaths. There are sections for the duties of the people hired by the synagogue, such as the shamas, the keeper of the burial ground, and the watchman.
The book includes an index. The text is in English, with frequent use of Hebrew terms.
