ממצרים ועד הנה
[Only Ed.] R. Jacob Israel ben Eliezer Malkov
This listing is an independent item not part of any collection
Only edition. 64 pp., octavo, 198:140 mm., wide margins, usual age staining. A very good copy bound in the original title wrappers.
On all that occurred to the inhabitants of Erez Israel from the beginning of World War I until the present by R. Jacob Israel ben Eliezer Malkov. A brief paragraph from the author on the verso of the title page, in place of an introduction, states that it was Malkov’s intention to entitle the work Sefer Zikkaronot, which was certainly suitable to it. All that is related in it, from the perspective of a critique, or of praise, or about any person, is in no way an exaggeration, and many men alive today were witness to them. All that is related is true. Below is a list of the books chapters, being the departure from Jerusalem; coming to Egypt; departing Egypt; not to be believed; and these are the guilty. The text follows in a single column in square letters. Me-Mizraim ve-ad Hena begins on Thursday, the 5th day of Hanukkah, 1914 and continues describing the events that occurred from that day. Me-Mizraim ve-ad Hena is an eyewitness description of events in Erez Israel during the first World War and its immediate aftermath, at a time when the foundations for the state of Israel were being prepared by an eyewitness. On several occasions the author frequently quotes from Jewish sages indicative of a religious perspective, and in the final chapter quotes sources on the coming of the Messiah.
