[Only Ed.] R. Abraham b. Hayyim Al-Naddaf
This listing is an independent item not part of any collection
Only edition. , 23 ff., 160:100 mm., wide margins, light age staining. A very good copy bound in the original title wrappers.
Only edition of the collection of the sayings of the early sages on the concept of settling Erez Israel and the redemption by R. Abraham ben Hayyim Al-Naddaf (1866-1940) of Qaryat Al-Qabil, Yemen. The title is from “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who announces peace; who brings good news of good (mevasser tov), who announces salvation; who says to Zion, Your G-d reigns!” (Isaiah 52:7). It has the subtitle, “for as his name is, so is he” (I Samuel 25:25). The text states that, “His mouth is most sweet; and he is altogether lovely” (Song of Songs 5:16). It states that it will speak on the inhabitation of Erez Israel, where “incense is offered” (Malachi 1:11) and a pure meal offering for all who tremble for the word of the L-rd and desire the peace of Jerusalem. It is dated with the verse, “Gather yourselves together, and hear, you sons of Jacob” (Genesis 49:1) and below it the date given directly as úøò"à. There is a preface from R. Al-Naddaf who begins that this monograph is small but of great value, on the settling of the Holy Land and particularly the holy city of Jerusalem. It is comprised of the words of our early and later holy sages, gatherd by the author of Hibbat Yerushalim and Raglei Mevaser on the holiness of the land. The text follows, in support of the themes expressed on the title page and in the preface.
