Only edition. [8], 144 pp. 16 mo. 140:108 mm., usual age staining. A very good copy bound in contemporary boards, rubbed.
Ethical work compiled from the writings of earlier sages by R. Eliezer Rahamim ben Yom-Tob Halevi Yedid. The title is from The lion has roared (aryeh Shaag), who will not fear? The Lord God has spoken, who can but prophesy? (Amos 3:8). The title page enumerates R. Yedids sources as the Talmud, Maharshdam, rishonim and ahronim. The verso of the title page has errata, followed by R. Ydids introduction, a table of contents, and the text. This is volume one of Aryeh Shaag, part two not being published until 1926 as part of Simhat Yom Tov.

R. Eliezer Rahamim ben Yom-Tob Halevi Yedid (1885-1934) was an eminent kabbalist as well as a renowned scholar. He was a teacher in the yeshivah Porat Yosef and taught Kabbalah in the yeshivot Rehot ha-Nahar and Bet El. In addition to Aryeh Shaag he wrote Minhat Eliezer (Jerusalem, 1910), a guide for spiritual development in the areas of human reproduction, Torah, and charity; Shivhei Maharam, a biography of R. Mordecai Hayyim Labaton and details concerning his father. He published the above mentioned Simhat Yom Tov, authored by his father and prepared the siddur of R. Shalom Sharabi for publication.
