Only edition of this eulogy on R. Zevi ben Hayyim Zaltsman by R. Judah ben Jacob Leibman. The title page of Zevi be-Erez Hayyim has the subtitle and continues “a memorial and a name” (Isaiah 56:5) on the demise of the yeshivah student, the erudite, the superb, important and honorable, generous donor and doer of good deeds, who has fear of the Lord, and then informs that R. Zevi ben Hayyim Zaltsman was from Minsk, his memory will remain until the last generation. It has the verse “for he said, I have no son to keep my name in remembrance” (II Samuel 18:18). There is a second title page which says, after the title, that it is mourning for an individual and in it are 1) a biography of the person, the facts of his life, his character, his righteous acts, and the day of his death on which he acquired “a name better than precious ointment” (Ecclesiastes 7:1); 2) a versified dirge; and 3) a discourse on the everlasting soul, for the soul does not die with the body and hope is everlasting in the Temple of the King, Lord of the world. There is an approbation from R. Aaron ben Jacob of Karlin. At the end of the book are memre from Imrei No’am.
