Detailed
Description
An elaborate booklet produced to justify the kosher certifications of a highly questionable product. Indeed this product was subsequently found to have been created exclusively from the bones of horses! While the rabbis allude to some non-kosher ingredients they seek to diminish its contribution to the final product thus rendering the gelatin kosher. Contained in this booklet is a study and responsa of the kashruth of gelatin produced by Atlantic General Division of General Foods Corporation by Rabbis Samuel Baskin and Simon Winograd (resumes included!), executive members of the Agudath HaRabanim (Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the United States and Canada). The studied response as to the kashruth of the gelatin is given in both Hebrew and English. Certifications by each of the Rabbis as to the kashruth of the product are provided following the English and Hebrew texts. These are followed by an approbation in Hebrew and English by R. Yehuda Leib Seltzer of Brooklyn, who was the honorary president of the Agudath Ha Rabanim.

A blaring example of the types of questionable certifications issued by the established American rabbinate that created stormy protests by the Holocaust surviving, old school European rabbinate the world over.
