Printed inYiddish and English, this is an appeal by the Jewish socialist leader Gina (Genie) Birentsvayg Medem (1888–1965) (wife of Bundist leader Vladimir Medem) to the Jews of South Africa to join the African Geserd and "express sympathy with that country [Russia], which has at last succeeded in solving amongst other problems that of the National Minorities and with it the Jewish Question."

The African Gezerd (Gezelshaft far Erdarbet), which was founded in 1932 and was the major instrument of the anti-Zionist cause. "By the time of its first National Convention in January, 1933, it boasted 1200 active members and many sympathizers all over the country. The importance of the Gezerd lies in the fact that it represented an alternative to Zionism as the dominant philosophy of the Jews of South Africa."
