Description
   Document attesting to the piety and honesty of a certain individual signed by five prominent members of the community and seperatly by R. Patashnik. The document is by the his hand as well.

R. Nahum Joshua Halevi Patashnik, Admor of Dabrowice (d. 1942) son of R. Abraham Shmuel of Brzezany, a descendant of Chernobyl, and of R. David HaMaggid (d. 1809). R. Nahum married Hinde Perel, the daughter of R. Alter Mordecai Sefard of Ostrog, of the Rav Yeive dynasty. He was ordained by R. Hayyim Soloveitchik and spent fifteen years in the home of his father-in-law, learning. He was also the brother in law of the Admor of Belz.

He became rabbi in Dabrowice in 1911 but was always known as the "rebbe of Brzezany." He was very active in the Agudah, and lead the regional Rabbinical Association. He was in charge of eight neighboring communities.

In the Second World War, he advised the Jews to join the partisans. He, his wife, his son R. Yitzhak, his son's wife, Bathsheva, and their three children were shot by the Nazis together with a group of 16,000 Jews. The Nazis ordered him to remove his talit katan - he refused and was hit by the murderers until his blood flowed over the bodies of the 16,000 victims.
