Detailed
Description
Bi-lingual Hebrew and Judeo-Spanish compilation of praise and verse by R. Benjamin Raphael ben Joseph. The title page describes Rananot u-Bakashot as a compilation of verse and praise for weekdays and yamim menuhot, for moedei simhah, for blessings, milah, and hupa, to give thanks to the God of the spirits (Numbers 16:22, 27:16) in place of korbanot and minhot. It is dated with the verse Can I hear any more the voice of singing men (II Samuel 19:36). Rananot u-Bakashot includes ninety-two piyyutim and praises, enumerated in a table at the beginning of the book. The majority of the piyyutim are in Hebrew, many vocalized but a majority without vowels. As noted on the title page these prayers encompass weekday, Shabbat, festivals, and special occasions throughout the Jewish year.
