Detailed
Description
Three isues of Moledet, the youth magazine of the Herut party. The cover reflects the parties ideology, with a map of Israel encompassing both sides of the Jordan, that is, including the present day state of Jordan within the boundaries of the state of Israel. The first of these issues (no. 1 - 29 Menahem-Av) begins with introductory remarks from Zev Jabotinsky and includes articles on the return to Israel with accompanying photographs; on Saul, the first king of Israel; Meir Nakar, Ya’akov Weiss, and Avshalom Haviv, members of IZL (Irgun Zeva’i Le’ummi), the Jewish underground resistance to the British, who were executed by the British in Acre, also with photographs; on Jerusalem; and also includes features such as sports, a crossword puzzle, and musical notes and words for a song, “we sing to you.” Among the contents of the second issue (no. 2 - 13 Elul) is an article on Rav Kook; on the heroes of the resistance to the British, such as Zev Jabotinsky, D. Raziel, and Abraham Stern; on freedom, with a photograph of the statue of liberty; a photo article on physical training, with photographs of girls exercising, including one of these trainees crawling under barbed wire with rifles; on nature, and the features noted in the prior edition. The third edition (no. 3 27 Elul) begins with an article entitled “the year of complete redemption;” has an article on the blowing of the shofar for our freedom; the Yamim Nora’im in the history of Israel; three heroes of the rebellion against Rome; on the new Israeli army; a photo article on training and camping; and various features, including an article on stamp collecting.

At the bottom of the cover is the statement that Moledet is the youth journal of Herut (Tnuat HaHerut- Freedom Movement), which was founded by Menachem Begin in 1948. Herut was the ideological standard-bearer of the Revisionist movement. The party played the dominant role in Gahal and Likud.
