Novellae on Shulhan Aruckh Yoreh De’ah by R. Nissin ben Aaron (Aaronson). The title page has a decorative frame and informs that R. Nissin ben Aaron was the Moreh Zedek in Dubno. There is Cyrillic text on the bottom of the page. The verso of the title page also has Cyrillic text, likely the censor’s permission to publish. Next is a page with nine approbations from R. Jacob Orenstein of Levov; R. Mordecai ben Menahem Nahum Twersky of Chernobyl, R. Isaac ben Jehiel Mehiel of Radvil, R. Hayyim Jacob ben Zev Wolff [Halberstadt] of Dubno, R. Joshua Heschel of Tarnipol, R. Meir Zevi Teomim of Brod, R. Abraham Abeli ben Abraham Solomon, R. Solomon Kluger of Brod, and R. Dov beirush Ashkenazi of Lutzk, and then an introduction. The text is in two columns in rabbinic type, excepting headers and initial words that are in square letters. The foliation is unusual in that it is in both Hebrew and Arabic numerals.
The text is comprehensive on Yoreh De’ah, beginning with hilkhot shehitah and concluding with hilkhot Nidah and Nedarim. A detailed work by a great scholar. |
